Saturday Morning!
Thought I would share an idea with you. It's called the Saturday 15
minute wake-up routine.
Today is Saturday- no school, no work or at least that is what this
Saturday is for me.
Today is a different day than yesterday- I don't have to go and work. Maybe
you don't have to go to school. I feel a bit lazy today. I don't have to
catch an airplane, or go to an early morning rehearsal or work in the
office.
I have just gotten up, made a cup of tea and picked up my flute and played
some scales, tone exercises, my favorite octave exercise and some good ole
bits form the repertoire- my favorite bits like the Allegro from Bach's C
Major Sonata and some other bits.
Now I can get going and have breakfast and continue my day.
I feel better. I feel connected. I have just enjoyed my little 15 minute
Wake-up routine. Now I can greet the day.
This is a great way to start any day not just Saturday.
I have learned over the years how to be disciplined. I can continue my
practicing, or as I call it playing all day because I made a good conscious
start.
This is the most important part of your day- You first thoughts , your
first movements.
This is when your mind is the clearest and most open.
Many of you ask me " How can I be less nervous? How do I fit in my
practice?
What is a good practice routine?
This is the first step.
This is not just good for Saturdays but for every day.
- First thing in the
morning- Get your flute out and "Have a blow as they say!"
- Play a scale or
two, up and down the flute.
- Get your lips woken up and play something nice
before you go and have breakfast.
And, by the way don't forget to eat
breakfast-......

I shall be sending you a early morning practice routine in
my next letter. Meanwhile, have a great day!
Try it. It works!
Your friend,
